THE MISSION CALL

When President Buie called us in for our interview to become missionaries he asked us why we wanted to serve a mission.  Our response was two-fold.  First, the Lord has blessed us so much we want to show our love to Him by serving Him.  The second involves a promise made in our Stake Conference by Apostle Hales.  He told us to go to the Lord and tell Him what you are willing to do in order to receive the blessings you need in your life.  We have been praying for a few blessings in our family, some for months others for years.  So here we are proving the Lord.

We gathered our children for pizza the day our call came, May 31st.  A call from Elder Rees earlier in the week alerted us that we would be called to work in the Public Affairs Department of the Church.  Martin handed me the envelope and made me read.  I was so anxious I skipped right to the location: FRANKFURT, GERMANY!!  What a surprise! And how exciting!  We had no idea what a Public Affairs missionary did but soon found others who had served in Frankfurt and could answer our questions.
